On Tuesday November 8, a completely unqualified, cheeto orange, racist, bigoted man was elected as President of our country. Fucking great, you had ONE job America. As a professional working in an industry that depends on sound scientific data this scares the hell out of me. There is a very real chance that my industry may suffer significantly. As a proud Afro Latina, a compassionate, socially conscious human being, the election of Drump (I refuse to say his name) was absolutely devastating. I felt defeated, disillusioned, enraged, and hopeless. The dust is settling a bit, countless protest have already occurred across the country, so what next? I won’t continue to wax poetic (today) regarding my discontent with the new administration.¬†Let’s get to the fun stuff new cannabis regulations in my great state of California. I originally created an extensive post on new reform across the country but it was lost *shakes fist at air*. Thanks Squarespace -_-.

California Prop 64 Adult Use of Marijuana Act: Legalized weed for adult recreational use for those over the age of 21. While the law is not perfect, it is very corporate friendly but it is a step in the right direction. Until 2018 the only way non medical patients can get access to weed is through a “plug” aka a friend that gifts you an ounce or less of weed.

My hope is that those that built and gave up their freedoms for this multi-billion dollar industry are not left out to dry. I will advocate for my people, women and people of color especially, to help create a space for us to thrive. <3
